Seeing as neither hubby or I live in our home states we usually make a handful of road trips every year. I think we are hitting our fourth one for 2015 this weekend so I’m slowly becoming an expert at this (except I’m not brave enough *yet* to take our cloth diapers on the road haha).
I wanna break this into parts cuz there is *so much* I have to share on this subject. We have done road trips with a 3 week old, 6 month old, 1 year old and now Fox is 19 months old for this current trip. For the most part travel with a baby or toddler has been pretty easy. The generally laid back demeanor Fox has could really play into it. He really is a trooper! Our road trips are 8 hours to either home state so not short but not too long either. My hubby has had a really difficult time with our transition to eating healthier foods. We used to be a hamburger helper, boxed mac n cheese, hot dog loving family. We ate healthy stuff occasionally, but only a handful of times in a month. For over 9 months now I’ve been clearing out our pantry and restocking it with healthy and organic foods.
Hubby’s old favorite is hamburger helper and after several failed attempts of making dinners I thought he would like I decided to give this recipe a try. (Just so you know, he said it would’ve been better with Velveeta… But I don’t buy that anymore so we will just make do with regular sharp cheddar cheese). Continue reading “Homemade Hamburger Helper”
I cannot say enough how much I LOATH nightmares, and dreams in general, while pregnant. They are the most realistic and terrifying of all nightmares. And I would know! I’ve been on many medications where nightmares were a side effect so I’ve dealt with this a lot more than I’d like to admit. The pregnancy ones are certainly the worst.
I am journalling this to get it off my mind. I’ve had some super realistic dreams the last few months that made me wake up in fear. These dreams are about the birth of this child. I keep having dreams about this baby being born so quick that we don’t make it to the hospital (where my midwife is). And dreams about the baby not breathing… Or the baby getting stuck (which is what happened with Fox). Terrifying stuff. Continue reading “Pregnancy Nightmares”
My son, Fox, has been *super* attached to me lately. With the family changes about to happen I’m really wondering if a 19 month old would pick up the vibes of these changes and that would cause him to be more attached? I’m thinking yes.
The new baby’s arrival isn’t something we’ve talked about a lot, tho now that I’m in the last trimester and my belly is swelling, its more obvious something is going on. I’ve told Fox that mama has a baby inside her and it is growing and getting big. I’ve helped him use “gentle hands” to rub the baby bump while telling him the baby is growing. After several weeks of this, Fox ran up to me while I was attempting to sit comfortably in our recliner, gently pet my belly, leaned over and kissed it, and then ran on to continue playing. It was the sweetest thing ever! Continue reading “My Toddler Preparing for the Baby’s Arrival”
This is just a quick intro about myself… I’m a 24 year old mama of a little boy and another on the way. We are country dwellers who enjoy our private space with beautiful views of fields and cow pastures all around us. I am terrible at gardening, but give it a good effort every year (except this year, this year only my blackberries produced and even that crop was small since I was out of commission and was unable to tend to them properly). I love home canning and making jelly. My bread machine is my friend in the summer months and during the winter I love to bake all sorts of other things in the oven. Cloth products and glassware take the place of disposable products and plastic in as many ways as possible. Using natural products in place of chemical filled products is also really important to me, tho I have my weaknesses such as an occasional paint job on my toe nails or using Dawn dish soap to clean the dishes.
